Pandemic Flu
Pandemic influenza is one of the most severe natural
challenges likely to affect the UK. The partners of the SWLRF work
together and with Government guidance, to prepare for a pandemic
influenza to help reduce the impact of its effects.
Key Actions
A key part of reducing the impact of the effects, is raising
awareness of how you can prepare to manage / reduce your own risk
of catching and spreading the virus, such as adopting basic hygiene
measures and following government advice.
Good hygiene
Preventing the spread of germs is the single most effective way
to slow the spread of diseases such as swine flu. You should
always:
- wash your hands regularly with soap and water
- clean surfaces regularly to get rid of germs
- use tissues to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or
sneeze
- place used tissues in a bin as soon as possible
